Opportunities

The founders of the Tri State Sculptors Association included education and the exchange of ideas as core components of the organization’s mission. The organization’s members include many professionals, educators, and students seeking to expand their passion and knowledge for sculpture with others. The exchange of skills, ideas, and information is vital in helping our members continue to develop as artists, and the organization places an emphasis in supporting students and new artists in their development as professionals.

The TSS association is interested in beginning a new mentorship initiative to better accomplish a support structure for students and improve networking and learning opportunities for its members. Our goal is to match “seekers of guidance” with members who obtain experience in the sought-after knowledge.  This could take the form of sharing information (both technical and conceptual), critiques, studio visits, specifics concerning individual works and ideas (i.e. advice about material choices or finishing techniques), etc.  We feel that it is important for the mentee to be able to choose which member(s) they would like to be paired with; therefore, we will need to create an index of members who are interested in providing this mentoring opportunity. If you are interested in volunteering to be a mentor, please fill out this form. Your name will be added to a list of available mentors and will be published on our website.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

Pushing Buttons

Montgomery County Community College

Blue Bell, PA

August 28 to October 4, 2024

Submission Deadline: April 22, 2024

2024 is already making a significant mark on our human and planetary timelines. “Polar” might mean  bears and melting icecaps but “polarization” means widening fissures of all kinds. In Pushing Buttons, the new collaborative exhibition with Philadelphia Sculptors (PS) and Tri-State Sculptors (TSS,) we encourage artists to make your own marks and use your pent-up energy to push some buttons. Direct  your deepest impulses and passions into giving tangible form to what matters to you. No one will tell you  to “button it” but instead we encourage you to unfasten your imagination and breathe easier as you open  yourself up to inspiration.

The exhibition will include both indoor and outdoor work and is open to members of both organizations. The Blue Bell Campus Art Gallery at Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) in Blue Bell, PA. will  host artists from both northern and southern regions as they weigh in on the issues of the day.

Eligibility

All PS and TSS members in good standing are eligible to apply. New members may join to be eligible. For  PS membership details go to: https://philasculptors.org/membership. For TSS membership details go to:  https://tristatesculptors.org/join-us

Who Are We?

  • We are a network of Sculptors and Sculpture Enthusiasts who learn new skills together, share ideas,  collaborate on projects, exhibit together, and watch each other grow old.

  • Our organization was started in 1978 by sculptors in NC, SC, and VA; hence the name TriState.  Since then the organization has grown and currently represents a broader portion of the Southeastern US.  Anyone is welcome to become a member
