Speaking of deadlines…. There is a big one coming up for the 2016 Tri-State Conference. Yes, I did say 2016. We were trying to keep it a surprise until the conference in Wilmington, but best laid plans don’t always work. The 2016 Tri-State Conference will be October 7, 8, and 9, 2016. It will be sponsored by Carolina Bronze Sculpture in Seagrove, NC and STARworks in Star, NC with exhibitions in Asheboro, NC. Planning is already underway with lots to see and do, and fire, lots of fire.
The outdoor exhibit for the conference is in Asheboro and is up for 18 months. They have put out their call for artist with entries due on July 31 of 2015. That is this month folks!! While they are taking entries from everyone, Tri-State members will be given preference, so please, let’s put on a good show and get your entries to them now. The exhibit will be up during the conference. Here is the info:
The Downtown Asheboro Sculpture Exhibition features the work of regional sculptors to highlight and enhance the revitalization of downtown Asheboro. The sculptures which will be on display in public spaces throughout downtown Asheboro alongside works in the City’s permanent collection. The sculptures and the murals that adorn downtown create an arts experience that is on display twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
The Downtown Asheboro Sculpture Exhibition will be on display beginning in the Fall of this year. Interested artists should visit www.RandolphArtsGuild.com to download the prospectus. Artists will be given stipends for the loan and installation of their work. The deadline for submission is July 31st, 2015. There is no application fee.
