Matt Amante Bio
I was born and raised in western Michigan. I stayed in the state until I completed my Undergraduate studies in Art Education and English at Western Michigan University. After I graduated I took a High School Art Teaching job in Darlington, SC and remained there for 2.5 years. After teaching a few years I decided to pursue my MFA in Sculpture at East Carolina University. This is where I got my first introduction to Tri-State Sculptors in 2007. I completed my MFA in 2010 and currently teach Sculpture and Art Appreciation full-time at Pitt Community College in Winterville, NC. I work out of my studio next to the home I share with my beautiful wife Amanda and our dog Bell. I also do some public art consulting work with the Pitt County Arts Council, and I look forward to taking a more active role in Tri-State and working with all of you in the future.
