Description: Originally a part of Wilmington, NC's Cameron Art Museum's exhibition, "Art & Social Conscience: HOLOCAUST" (May 2 - October 19, 2008. "This exhibition, the first in the museum's 'Art and Social Conscience' series, features works by art faculty members from 11 of the 16 branches of the University of North Carolina system. Artists were asked to address the Holocaust and its larger context of mankind's inhumanity to man, and many responded with new work created for the exhibition.

Greg Shelnutt lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he has been a
member of the Visual Arts faculty at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts
since June of 2000. In 2005, he was appointed Director of the Visual Arts Program at

Artist's Statement
As a sculptor, I am primarily concerned with the manifestation of ideas through the
manipulation of form. I think of my sculpture as a form of story telling, be it forceful
and overt or subtle and mysterious in its approach. I endeavor to create works that
provoke the viewer into questioning accepted notions about culture. Sculpture
particularly asks us to investigate the assumptions we must make     ...... more
