I was born in Chicago, but have lived in the south for over 20 years and love it here. Having 5 sisters taught me at an early age, that women can do anything. Though my parents were not interested in art, they always encouraged my interest, and proved to be the best of role models for my artistic endeavors. | Artist's Statement |
I am a direct stone carver, which means when beginning a new sculpture; I normally do not have a preconceived idea of what the final form will be. Instead, each stone, with its set of unique characteristics inspires my vision for the sculpture. It is similar to interpreting the shapes that can be seen in the clouds.
